When we put out a National call to artists and scientists for a Science-themed Billboard to celebrate Science Week 2010, we had no idea of the talent hiding in our own backyard!
QUT staff photographer Sonja De Sterke's Water-World was the unanimous choice of the selection panel because of its 'bold simplicity' and 'contrasting colour and symmetry within a framework of the planet'.
According to Sonja, Water-World reflects the Earth's curved horizon as seen from space, and surface tension has enabled air bubbles to form, adding a sense of childlike playfulness.

Set a month after a car crash, Engine is the story of 'Grumpop' who lost a grandson and Natasha who lost a brother. Natasha wants to remember Stevie by finishing the project car he was working. Grumpop is a retired mechanic and he could help but he just wants to put it all behind him.
